Bell County Hikes: Chalk Ridge Falls

Do go chasing this waterfall!

By Brittany Joyner June 29, 2026

If you ask anyone where to go hiking around here, chances are they'll suggest Chalk Ridge Falls! It's definitely one of our favorites and there's always something new to explore out there.

Location: 5600 FM1670, Belton, TX 76513

Hours: 8AM-Sunset

Not stroller, wagon, or wheelchair accessible.

There are bridges, rocks, stairs, and hills that would make bringing anything with wheels difficult.

We've been hiking Chalk Ridge Falls since 2019 and are always exploring new areas of the park. Completely on me, but I didn't realize there was an entire trail on the other side of the river until a month or so ago.

The hike to the falls is about .7 miles, but there are several longer trails as well.

There's also so many activity options throughout (hiking, bouldering, relaxing, picnic, fishing, animal tracking, plant identification, geocaching, orienteering, etc).

Unfortunately, at the time of this posting, the suspension bridge is no longer there as it was damaged by floods and freezes. It was such a cool feature and hopefully one day someone will sponsor a new one.

It's the perfect hike for every season as there's decent amounts of shade and water to keep you cool in the warmer months and plenty to see outside of the water in the cooler months. Tag us on socials if you visit, we want to see everyone's family fun! @mackidkilleen
